Employment Law and Conflict Resolution

This is a one-day, two-part course.

Part 1 starts with an assessment of your own personal Conflict Management style. This knowledge/ awareness is complemented by a Conflict Resolution Model and applications.

At the end of this session, you will come away with a much better understanding of the root causes of most conflicts, and have a process to nip them in the bud.

You will also have a better insight into your own tendencies in the face of conflict, and the natural inclinations of people in conflict. Applying this insight together with the Resolution Model will give you a much better chance of achieving win-win solutions in everyday business situations.

In Part 2 students are introduced to an overview of the relevant Federal and Provincial employment laws and regulations, including:

  • human rights
  • health and safety
  • employment equity and standards
  • labor laws, and
  • labor practices.

Participants work in teams to make decisions on real-life case studies, and will receive resource materials to keep current going forward.
