Your H.R. Department will thank you for attending this course. Why?
- You interview a highly qualified applicant but do not hire him. Can he claim discrimination in hiring?
- A single mother has issues around child care. Are you required to provide her with any special treatment?
- A CSR is caught looking at porn on a company PC during working hours. Is that grounds for instant dismissal?

Where there are people, there is conflict, so anyone who manages people needs to have top skills in conflict management and fully understand workplace legal regulations.
It is much easier to avoid a problem than to fix a problem.
This is a one-day two-part course. In Part 1- Conflict Resolution you will complete an assessment of your own Conflict Management style, and be introduced to a Conflict Resolution Model. By the end of Part 1 you will understand the root causes of most conflicts, and have a process to nip them in the bud.
As well, you will have a better insight about the natural inclinations of people who are in conflict. This insight - with the Resolution Model - gives you a better chance of achieving win: win solutions in everyday business situations.
Part 2- Employment Law introduces you to relevant Provincial and Federal employment laws and workplace regulations, including human rights, health and safety, employment equity and standards, and labor laws and practices. You will work in teams to decide on real-life case studies, and receive resource materials to keep current going forward.
This workshop was designed by Stephen Ng and will be led by Norah Lee, a Professor at Centennial College.
